From Chaos to Clarity: My Journey Building Life-Changing Notion Systems

It started with a problem I couldn’t solve.

In my final year studying Software Engineering, I built a Business Process Management System for my project. Something clicked. I got genuinely obsessed with the idea that the right system could completely change how someone works, and honestly, how they live. But here’s the ironic part: I knew how to build systems for other people. My own life? Total mess.

Then COVID hit right as I graduated. I had two options, play it safe with an internship, or go all in on freelancing. I went all in. Started building websites for clients, said yes to everything, and tried to look like I had it all figured out.

I really, really didn’t.

See, I have ADHD. And if you know what that’s like, you know it’s not just “being distracted sometimes.” It’s having 47 browser tabs open in your brain at all times. My projects were everywhere. My thoughts were everywhere. I’d start something, get pulled into something else, forget the first thing existed, and then feel guilty about all of it. Classic.

One night — probably around 3 AM, because that’s when the best (worst?) decisions happen — I was deep in a Google rabbit hole trying to find something that could help me feel less scattered. That’s when I stumbled onto Notion.

At first, I didn’t think much of it. Another productivity app. Cool. But the more I played with it, the more I realised this wasn’t like the others. There were no rigid structures telling me how to think. It was just… a blank canvas. I could build whatever I wanted, however my brain needed it to work.

So I did. For months, I tweaked and rebuilt and broke things and fixed them again. I’d find a workflow that felt right, use it for a week, realise it wasn’t quite there, and rebuild it. Most people would’ve given up. But my ADHD brain? It was loving the puzzle.

Eventually, something shifted. I stopped fighting my own brain and started working with it. My workspace finally clicked. Tasks got done. Projects moved forward. I wasn’t just feeling productive, I was actually being productive. And for someone who’d spent years feeling like they were always behind, that was huge.

That’s when the thought hit me: if this could work for my chaotic brain, it could probably work for other people too.

I threw up a gig on Fiverr. Nothing fancy, just offering to build custom Notion setups. I figured maybe a handful of people would be interested.

It blew up.

Three years later, I’ve worked with over 300 clients on 400+ custom projects and done 100+ consultations with people all over the world. In 2024, I became one of the first verified Fiverr Pro Notion Consultants.

But here’s what I’ve figured out along the way, and this is important.

There are literally thousands of Notion templates out there. You can find one for just about anything. But templates don’t solve the real problem. The real problem is that everyone’s chaos looks different. Your overwhelm isn’t the same as mine. Your workflow isn’t the same as the person sitting next to you. So why would the same template work for both of you?

It wouldn’t. And that’s the whole point of what I do.

I’ve also been the person who spent more time perfecting their Notion setup than actually doing the work. I’ve been the person who confused “reorganising my database for the fifth time” with being productive. I get it. I’ve lived it. And that experience is exactly why I build things differently now.

I don’t build pretty workspaces that look great in a screenshot but fall apart after a week. I build systems that are simple enough to actually use, flexible enough to grow with you, and designed around the way you think, not the way some template creator thinks you should.

Every client I work with reminds me of where I started. Overwhelmed. Scattered. Spending more energy managing the mess than doing the actual work. And every time I help someone go from that feeling to “oh wow, I actually know what I’m doing today”, that’s the whole reason I do this.

We’re not just organising tasks and databases here. We’re building the foundation for people to work and live with a little more intention, a little more clarity, and a lot less stress.

If that sounds like something you need, let’s talk.
